A new gameplay trailer for “non-traditional” city-builder Avon Colony, which is developed by Mothership Entertainment and Team17, was released today showing off just some of the game’s alien world, called Aven Prime, and the civilizations you will be attempting to build in them.
Here’s a quick description of the game:
Our goal is to make you feel like the governor of humanity’s first settlement on an alien world, lightyears from earth and 500 years in the future, growing a tiny, vulnerable colony on an exotic world into a massive, sprawling sci-fi metropolis. Along with that, you need to deal with all of the survival challenges that this hostile alien world presents.
In Avon Colony, players are “able to collect and activate alien artifacts, pack your colonists into expedition vessels and send them exploring outside the colony, and build plasma turrets and lightning towers and other buildings to protect your colonists from creep spores and plague spores.”
Time is also treated differently in Avon Colony. Divided into “Sols,” which last around a week in Earth time. Each Sol is then divided into seasons with the “winter” season being one of the harshest due to its cold winds, frost and snow, and lightning strikes that can damage or destroy buildings.
Aven Colony is set for release on the PlayStation 4 and other platforms sometime during the second quarter of the year.
