Thanks to the North American and European release on Tuesday, worldwide shipments of Persona 5 have crossed 1.5 million, Atlus announced today.

“I would like to express my deep appreciation to all of you,” the Persona PR team said. “Thank you very much.”

A regional breakdown wasn’t provided, but Persona 5 launched on September 15 in Japan, and after just two weeks, 550,000 digital and physical copies had been sold. Looking solely at retail sales, the PlayStation 4 version was at 359,000 lifetime before dropping out of the top 20 in late October, and the PlayStation 3 version was at 104,000 lifetime before falling off the chart in mid-October.

Over the next few weeks, more paid and free DLC will be available for Persona 5 in the West, including the free Swimsuit Set on April 25.

In our review of Persona 5, we said, “It doesn’t reinvent the genre, as it largely builds upon Persona 4‘s stellar base, but it adds a level of polish that is simply lacking from its contemporaries.”
