Rocket League Has Sold 1 Million Physical Copies

While Rocket League has been available on the PlayStation 4 as a digital release for almost two years now, a physical release of the game was released last June 2016. And the game’s publisher and developer Psyonix has just announced that the physical version of Rocket League, distributed by 505 Games, has sold over one million copies.

According Psyonix, the vast majority of the consumers who purchased the physical version of Rocket League are new players while the rest are existing fans that just want a physical copy. Rocket League has been a runaway success for Psyonix. The game has sold over 9.5 million digital copies across multiple platforms since it launched in 2015.

Rocket League isn’t the first game 505 Games has brought to physical retail, the company has also handled the physical versions of Terraria and Stardew Valley as well. Digital-only games making their way to physical retail is becoming more common as of late. Hyper Light Drifter, Risk of Rain, and Ys Origin are just a few other titles coming out with physical versions this year.
