Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, the sequel to 2014’s critically-acclaimed Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, was a sudden announcement early this year and today we get a first look at one of the major cities where the game will take place – Minas Ithil – in a new developer video.
Shadow of War takes players outside of Mordor, where the first game was exclusively located, and into the realm of men. The developers in the video talk about how they designed the city of Minas Ithil from the ground up and where they took inspiration for its design and layout.
Looking at the video, Minas Ithil in Shadow of War looks very much like another Gondorian city from the Lord of the Rings story, Minas Tirith, with its Romanesque architecture and multi-tiered layout. The video gives us a peek at the game’s other locations beyond Mordor.
Middle Earth: Shadow of War set to release on August 22 in North America and August 25 in Europe for the PlayStation 4 and other platforms. Watch three minutes of gameplay here.
