Farpoint, the upcoming new title from Impulse Gear created for the PlayStation VR, has finally gone gold and is now locked for release on May 16, 2017, according to a post by Impulse Gear co-founder Seth Luisi on the PlayStation Blog.
Farpoint is a new first-person shooter experience built specifically for the PSVR. The game can be played with a controller or Sony’s new PS VR Aim controller, a new motion controller based on the PS Move made specifically for Farpoint.
The game features both an online two-player co-op mode and a single-player story campaign, which latter of which Luisi shares more about in his post alongside a new story trailer for the game. Here’s what he had to say about the game’s single-player narrative experience:
When we started working on Farpoint we knew from the beginning that we wanted it to have a deep and meaningful narrative. We wanted to use VR to tell a unique, more personal story in a way that put the player right in the middle of it.
As previously mentioned, Farpoint is scheduled for release on May 16, 2017 for the PSVR on the PlayStation 4. It will be available either as a stand-alone game or can be purchased as a bundle with the PS VR Aim controller. The controller will also be made available separately.
