During its extensive coverage of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Game Informer took out some time to quiz Ninja Theory on potential sequels to some of its previous games including 2010’s Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. While the developer has already explained that it doesn’t own the IP and the decision to make another title would rest with the publisher, creative director Tameem Antoniades said that an Enslaved 2 might be too similar to Horizon Zero Dawn and it might not make sense to make a game in that vein now regardless of the publisher’s decision.
“Horizon is a brilliant game and I think maybe that’s also taken over that mantle or aesthetic,” he said. “Maybe it’d have to be something different.” Antoniades also said that this was his own perspective and not Bandai Namco’s.
“What they [Guerrilla Games] have done is outstanding and beautiful, and it’s got similar stuff in it,” he continued. “I don’t know if I’d want to go up against Horizon now. I think you’ve got to find a different angle.”
