Dead Island 2 Is Still in Development, Deep Silver Is “Excited by the Progress”

After hearing a rumor that suggested Dead Island 2 had entered development hell, Eurogamer reached out to Deep Silver. In their response, the publisher told them the game is still being worked on at Sumo Digital, and they’re excited about the progress:

Dead Island 2 is in development at Sumo Digital, and we are excited by the progress the team are making with Deep Silver’s most successful IP. When we are ready to share more information, we will.

Back in March 2016, Deep Silver announced that LittleBigPlanet 3 developer Sumo Digital was now making Dead Island 2, following Yager’s departure from the project in July 2015.

In a current job listing on Sumo Digital’s website, they say:

Our most recent successes include Forza Horizon 2 (Xbox 360), LittleBigPlanet 3 (PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3) and Disney Infinity 3.0 Toy Box Speedway (multi-platform). We are also incredibly proud to be working on the highly anticipated Crackdown 3 (Xbox One) and Dead Island 2 (multi-platform) plus several other exciting but yet unannounced projects.

Sumo Digital’s most recent title is Snake Pass, which released on March 28.

Do you think we’ll see Dead Island 2 at E3 2017 next month?
