Recently, Reddit user shoutouttoashraf (account now deleted) posted an off-screen screenshot supposedly from Assassin’s Creed Origins that features a character on a boat carrying a bow and arrow. At the top left of the image it says, “Assassinate the Crocodile. Follow Shadya to Khenut’s Villa.” According to Wikipedia, Khenut was a Queen of Egypt who lived during the Fifth Dynasty of Egypt (2494 to 2345 BC).
Following the leak of the screenshot, Eurogamer was able to confirm with three separate sources that it is indeed real. Additionally, their sources says Assassin’s Creed Origins is a prequel, it’s coming out in 2017, and it will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Previous leaks have said Ubisoft will unveil Assassin’s Creed Origins later this month, with a full reveal happening at E3 2017.
When Eurogamer reached out to Ubisoft, the company said, “We won’t be making a comment on any rumours or speculations.”
Ubisoft hasn’t dated their E3 2017 press conference yet, but Monday, June 12 is likely.
If you want to check out past Assassin’s Creed games, Ubisoft is holding a Publisher Sale on PlayStation 4 games in North America this week.
