In a new video that looks back at the entire first year of Overwatch ahead of the one-year anniversary on May 23, Blizzard reveals that the Anniversary Event is running from Tuesday, May 23 until Monday, June 12.
“It’s been an A-MEI-ZING year, and we couldn’t have done it without you,” Blizzard said. “Join us as we look back at some of the team’s favorite moments. Then, get ready for our first-ever Overwatch Anniversary celebration starting May 23!”
Also on May 23, Blizzard will release Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition digitally for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (price TBA). It will replace Overwatch: Origins Edition and includes the following:
- 10 Loot Boxes
- Vintage Blackwatch Reyes, Strike-Commander Morrison, Overgrown Bastion, Security Chief Phara, and Slipstream Tracer skins.
- Tracer for Heroes of the Storm
- Baby Winston pet for World of Warcraft
- Mercy’s wings for Diablo III
- Tracer, Reaper, Pharah, Winston, Bastion, and Soldier: 76 in-portraits for StarCraft II
- Overwatch-themed card for Hearthstone
Meanwhile, the Overwatch Free Weekend will run from May 26 at 11am PT/2pm ET to May 29 at 11:59pm PT on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. All 24 heroes and 14 maps will be available during the Free Weekend, and any progress made during the Free Weekend will transfer to Overwatch if you decide to buy the full game.
According to the Free Weekend FAQ, the client is 20GB on consoles and 12GB on PC.
