It looks like PlayStation 4 Pro owners are in for a treat when Gran Turismo Sport, the latest entry into the long-running PlayStation exclusive franchise, launches later this year as the folks at Digital Foundry and Eurogamer have published a report showing off just how developer Polyphony Digital has added PS4 Pro support to the new game.
First off, Gran Turismo Sport on the PS4 Pro will support 4K resolution output using checkerboard upscaling to achieve a render resolution of 1800p, which is marginally higher than the more common 1440p resolution that many other games with PS4 Pro support have been utilizing.
Additionally, Gran Turismo Sport on the PS4 Pro running at 1080p will run at a consistent framerate of 60fps. It looks like the developer was able to achieve this by utilizing more power from the PS4 Pro’s GPU by removing support for 4K downsampling. So, while running the game at 1080p on the PS4 Pro won’t mean improved graphical quality, it will mean a solidly high framerate.
It must be noted though that the report was based on the beta version of the game so some of these details may even improve further when the final version of Gran Turismo Sport releases later this year.
