The CD Projekt Group, which owns both The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt and Gwent: The Witcher Card Game development studio CD Projekt Red and popular DRM-free games marketplace GOG.com, has just posted its financial report for the first quarter of 2017, which also detailed some of its plans for the Gwent public beta as well as its future plans for the new game.
In the report, the CD Projekt Group posted that CD Projekt Red was able to earn a net profit of 43.7 million Polish Zloty (around $11.7) during Q1 of 2017, which was a 35% increase from their performance in Q1 2016. The company did not specify the details of its profits although it could be assumed that they mostly stemmed from sales of Witcher 3 and its expansions.
The company also listed some of its future plans for Gwent, which just entered its public beta phase, which includes releasing more versions of the game in different language including a Chinese edition, the introduction of new game modes and paid single-player campaigns, a larger marketing effort, and the organization of tournaments and events.
As previously mentioned, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game just launched its public beta for the PlayStation 4 and other platforms last May 24, 2017, opening up the game for anyone and everyone to try. Check out our preview of the game here.
