Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 5 is releasing on February 27, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The PS4 version will include free content at launch, while Xbox One and PC players can get the same content through the Ubisoft Club.
Set in the fictional Hope County, Montana, Far Cry 5 sees you playing as a new junior deputy whose goal is to disrupt the plans of a fanatical doomsday cult, the Project at Eden’s Gate, who have started a violent takeover of the county. You’ll be able to navigate the dynamic open world that adapts and reacts to the choices you make by yourself, or in two-player co-op.
The description adds that you can recruit humans or specialized animals, create new playgrounds with the map editor, and more:
Under siege and cut off from the rest of the world, players will join forces with residents of Hope County and form the Resistance. The fight against the cult will take players to unique locations throughout Hope County that provide different gameplay experiences. During their journey, players can fly planes to engage cult forces in aerial dogfights across Big Sky Country. While tracking down cult members and gathering resources for survival across farmland, forests, mountains and rivers, players can get behind the wheel of iconic American muscle cars, big rigs, ATVs and boats. Vehicles also provide refuge when under attack by animals or as a way to quickly escape when things don’t go as planned.
To take down the cult, players will need to utilize any and all weapons at their disposal, including ranged weapons such as guns and grenades and melee weapons like a sledgehammer or baseball bat. Additionally, players can recruit Guns for Hire from a large cast of characters, or even Fangs for Hire, specialized animals like bears and cougars to complement players’ playstyles whether they’re going in stealthily or forcefully. How players approach each situation and the chaos they create in Far Cry 5 is up to them. Far Cry 5 will also see the return of the map editor, giving players the opportunity to create and play an infinite amount of new playgrounds. The map editor will include new features that add a new dimension to the content created by fans, with more details coming soon.
And here’s the list of features:
- You Are In Control – Set within beautiful rural Montana and built on an open world format, Hope County truly is the land of the free. From the simple pleasures of Holland Valley to the healing wonders of the Henbane River to the raw power of the Whitetail Mountains, you’ll find endless adventure the deeper you explore.
- Resistance Meter: Game Leveling – When you hit hard, the enemy’s gonna hit back harder. Far Cry 5’s dynamic AI tracks the effect you’re having in the game, and alters the enemy’s strategy against you. Be prepared: The cult will boost their efforts when you become less of a nuisance and more of a threat.
- Game Activities – The fate of Hope County is in your hands. Take on the cult solo or team up with a fellow resister in co-op mode and wreak havoc upon Joseph Seed and his band of cult followers. In the biggest Far Cry release ever, you’ll have everything at your disposal – from hired guns to hired fangs and the baddest arsenal this side of the Mississippi.
- Guns and Fangs for Hire – Your posse comes in all shapes, sizes, and species. To help aid in your campaign against The Project at Eden’s Gate, call upon other Resistance fighters from in town or from the backcountry, riverbeds, and blue skies of Hope County.
By pre-ordering Far Cry 5, you’ll receive the Doomsday Prepper Pack, which includes a prepper outfit, gun and vehicle skin, and additional consumables.
In terms of special editions, there’s the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes the following extra content: Big Game Hunter Pack, Ace Pilot Pack, Explosive Pack, Chaos Pack, AR-C Assault Rifle, and .44 Magnum Handgun with Unique Skins. There’s also the Gold Edition and Steelbook Gold Edition, which include the Season Pass and Digital Deluxe content. “Get access to expansions, exclusive content, and more with the Season Pass,” Ubisoft says.
