Blizzard Shows off Horizon Lunar Colony, a New Overwatch Assault Map

Horizon Lunar Colony is a new Assault map coming soon to Overwatch, Blizzard announced today. It’s live on the Public Test Region for PC, and will be out in the near future for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

“Horizon Lunar Colony is an Assault map set in a scientific base on the moon. Built as a first step towards humanity’s renewed exploration of space, the colony’s goal was to examine the effects of prolonged extraterrestrial habitation – on human and ape alike,” Blizzard says of Horizon Lunar Colony. “The scientists’ research proved incredibly promising…until, suddenly, all contact and communications with the base were lost. Now, many years later, attacking and defending teams must return to the moon and battle for control of the colony’s facilities, all while they discover clues as to the fate of its previous inhabitants.”

You can see the Horizon Lunar Colony trailer above. In the below video, Game Director Jeff Kaplan talks about the new map and, beginning at 2:07, how they handled low gravity.

Some of the other highlights from the PTR update on PC today include the following:

New Legendary Skins

  • Oni Genji and Officer D.Va have been added to classic loot boxes

Custom Games and Game Browser

  • Player gravity and projectile gravity can now be modified
  • Knockback magnitude can now be modified on any weapons or abilities that have a knockback effect
  • Jump height can now be modified

Keeping in mind that the PTR is PC-only and not everything will carry over to PS4 and Xbox One, you can see the full list of patch notes for today’s PTR update over here.

As a reminder, the Overwatch Anniversary Event will end on June 12.
