E3 2017: Ace Combat 7 Takes Flight in New Trailer

Bandai Namco is bringing Ace Combat back in a big way, and are making Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown one of their main focuses of E3 2017. The Japanese publisher released the game’s official E3 trailer today, which shows off the first entry in the popular flight combat series since 2014’s free-to-play Ace Combat Infinity. The two-minute trailer sets the tone of the game’s story mode, and shows off the high-flying action that fans have come to expect from the series.

Despite the Ace Combat series regularly seeing releases, Skies Unknown is the first main entry in the series since 2007’s Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. This means that it once again takes place in the fictional Strangereal universe. Bandai Namco says that fans can expect “heart-pounding action, a gut-wrenching storyline, and the most advanced visuals to ever grace an Ace Combat game.” Other features include:

Fully rendered clouds fill the skies while highly detailed cityscapes enhance the sense of supersonic speed, setting the stage for highly exhilarating aerial battles. Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown will provide an arsenal of ultra-modern and near-future super weapons for players to wield, while presenting formidable enemies for pilots to vanquish in the air. Aces who have proven their aerial combat prowess in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown’s campaign mode can take their dogfighting skills online for furious online multiplayer battles.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is set to finally take flight next year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The PS4 version will support PlayStation VR.
