Report: Kojima/Konami Feud Ongoing, Kojima Productions Blocked From Health Association

A new report has surfaced claiming that the Hideo Kojima/Konami feud is ongoing and that Konami is preventing Kojima Productions from becoming part of a Health Insurance Association in Japan.

According to Nikkei (translation via Kotaku), Konami sent a letter to Kojima accusing him of “unfairly sullying” its reputation in response to his remarks about Metal Gear Survive. In case you don’t remember, Kojima said of the spin-off title last September:

The Metal Gear games are about political fiction and espionage. Where do zombies fit in with that? Personally speaking, Metal Gear Solid is espionage to me, political fiction.

That appears to have rubbed Konami the wrong way, prompting the company to dispatch the aforementioned letter.

In addition to the above, it appears that Kojima Productions is having trouble joining the Kanto IT Software Health Insurance Association, which includes 7,000 companies involved in providing health insurance, due to Konami’s influence. The developer is also being accused of cautioning major video game companies against hiring its former employees, going as far as preventing employees from mentioning that they’re “formerly of Konami.”
