May was not a very good month for physical game sales in the UK as sales numbers were down by 28.5% with only 818,336 games sold while revenue was down by 41% with only £24 million made. The month was decent enough for Warner Bros though as the publisher’s latest title Injustice 2 was the best-selling physical game in the UK for the month.
The highly anticipated fighting game sequel was released on May 11, 2017, and enjoyed decent sales throughout the month. Landing in second place for the month of May was Bethesda’s Prey while Nintendo’s Mario Kart 8: Deluxe for the Switch sat in third, which is equally impressive given that the title is only available on a single platform.

With the release of Tekken 7 on consoles this month, it’s unlikely that Injustice 2 will be able to keep its top spot this month. But the downward trend in video game sales could continue due to the lack of major releases in the coming months.
