At E3 2017, Hollie from PlayStation Access was able to capture footage of Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown’s PlayStation VR mode. Throughout the nearly 7-minute video, you’ll get to see Ace Combat 7 gameplay in VR, watch Hollie use the PSVR headset in real-time, and listen to Hollie talk about her experience.
Asked about motion sickness, she replied, “Honestly I was ok. As a person who doesn’t like flying all that much I felt totally overwhelmed by the experience (in a good way) but tummy was fine.”
Digital Foundry also took a look at Ace Combat 7 at E3 2017, where they learned from Producer Kazutoki Kono that the VR mode is staying exclusive to PSVR, at least for now.
In their analysis of this early version of the game (beginning at 4:30 and running on a base PS4), Digital Foundry revealed that the frame-rate is uncapped and ran anywhere from 32fps to 60fps in their 30 minutes. According to them, Kono said he feels “the benefit of enhanced visuals outweighs the need for a consistent 60 frames-per-second here.”
Ace Combat 7 releases in 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
