It looks like supply drops are making a return in Call of Duty: WWII but they won’t be dropping weapon or gear variants with varying stats anymore like they did in COD: Advanced Warfare, according to Studio Head Michael Condrey in a recent Reddit AMA.
Answering a question about supply drops and weapon variants, Condrey said:
Yes. All weapon variants and gear variants in Call of Duty: WWII supply drops are cosmetic only, so there are no stat-based variants in play. We’re also offering players Collections and Collection Bounties, giving a direct path for our community to earn items through all modes of MP and Headquarters play.
In COD: WWII, the weapon and gear variants players will be receiving from supply drops will now be purely cosmetic, fixing the long-standing issue players have had with the stat-based weapon and gear variants from previous iterations in the series.
COD: WWII is scheduled for release on November 3, 2017, for the PlayStation 4 and other platforms.
