Psyonix plans to support Rocket League for years to come, and they teased that the Fall update is going to be big:

And let’s not forget about our plans to keep Rocket League one of the most updated games around. Our Fall update is going to be a big one, with all sorts of new features that you have been asking us for on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, and our forums. We’ll have more DLC this calendar year; more quality of life updates planned for the coming months; more Crates; more features; more… well, everything.

Speaking with Games Industry, Psyonix’s Jeremy Dunham said they don’t want to exploit the Rocket League brand:

We look at Rocket League as a platform, and not as a franchise for us to make very different versions of. Rocket League is a game that, as it expands, it is still the same game. It is not Rocket League Karts or Rocket League RPG. We don’t want to exploit the brand. We want to reward the players, that’s how we look at it. Our vantage point is that if we are going to make a new game, then it needs to be a new game, we want it to be its own thing that’s built on its own merit and its own expectations. It will have its own team, its own philosophies and it will be a separate thing.

If you don’t own Rocket League yet, it’s 50% off on the PlayStation Store (North America, Europe) right now. You’ll also find select DLC for 40% off.
