Final Fantasy VII Remake Director: “It Is Unlikely We’ll Share Information for a While”

Director Tetsuya Nomura has been busy talking about Kingdom Hearts III lately, but in an interview with Famitsu, he also touched on the other game he’s directing: Final Fantasy VII Remake.

After mentioning the fact that development on the remake has shifted to an internal setup, Nomura said we shouldn’t expect any new information “for a while” as a result:

Although there are parts [of Final Fantasy VII Remake] further along than Kingdom Hearts III, such as cutscenes, it is unlikely we’ll share information for a while as we switch from mainly external to mainly internal development.

Famitsu also asked about Kingdom Hearts III, and Nomura said the events in the Toy Story world are part of its time axis – basically, it is canon.

Nomura then confirmed that, while the number of Disney worlds in KHIII is less than KHII, the density of each world is greater.

Kingdom Hearts III will be out in 2018. Final Fantasy VII Remake should be out by 2020.
