Life is Strange Before the Storm Trailer Celebrates Season

Rhianna Devries Discusses Playing Chloe in Life is Strange: Before the Storm

The first episode of the Life is Strange prequel Before the Storm is coming out next month (August 31 to be exact), and Square Enix just released a new video diving into the game’s development. Besides taking place before the original title, one of the major differences in Before the Storm is that Chloe has a new voice. Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Chloe’s original voice actress Ashly Burch wasn’t able to reprise the role (although she has worked on the game as a writer). In her place will be Rhianna Devries, and the video has her discussing why the role is so special to her.

Before checking out the video, here is a message from Before the Storm developer Deck Nine Games:

We are extremely happy to have been able to involve Ashly Burch in the creation of Before the Storm as a writing consultant – she has truly helped mold the younger Chloe Price into the character you will play. This new video provides some key insights from Ashly and our lead writer Zak Gariss, on what it has been like to create a brand new story at a time where our lead character is facing such rawness of hurt, in so many facets of her life.

The video also includes insights from Rhianna Devries, the voice actor playing the younger Chloe in Before the Storm. Rhianna has been working with Season One’s returning voice over director, to ensure the level of performance and emotion is on par with the original game.

Check out the video below to find out how the voice actress feels about being handed such an iconic role and getting to work alongside Ashly Burch:

The first episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm, titled Awake, is set to release August 31, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
