Konami has reported an increase in revenue and profit for the first quarter of fiscal 2018, with its Digital Entertainment business coming out on top.
Total revenue stood at ¥55,743 million (year-on-year increase of 12.8 percent), and operating profit amounted to ¥12,196 million (year-on-year increase of 34.2 percent). The company’s Digital Entertainment segment, which includes mobile games, card games, and computer and video games, saw the highest increase in revenue.
In terms of computer and video games, Super Bomberman R and Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 “continue to remain robust.” Konami’s soccer title also dominated the mobile games division with the release of PES 2017 in 150 countries where it surpassed 30 million downloads.
Looking forward, Konami is set to release PES 2018 this September for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The company is also expected to release its co-op stealth game, Metal Gear Survive, in early 2018 following a delay.
