- Ubisoft discussed why Skulls & Bones is an original property.
- Crash Bandicoot managed to edge out the fantastic Splatoon 2 in the UK sales.
- Sony Santa Monica discussed God of War‘s Atreus.
- Jim Ryan said that 13 year cycles of video game consoles are over. In other news, water is wet.
- Ubisoft discussed “games as a service” and sees it as the future of gaming.
- The next episode of Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy will arrive August 22.
- Inti Creates are no longer working on Bloodstained.
- The Sims 4 is coming to consoles.
- WWE 2K18 is getting a ridiculously priced John Cena themed collector’s edition.
- Brenda Romero had a hilarious quote about The Last Guardian‘s clunky, yet endearing, controls.
- Persona 5 sales topped 1.8 million copies sold.
- Doomfist finally made his Overwatch debut.
- Speaking of which, two new anime adaptations were announced as Persona 5 and Steins;Gate 0 are getting cartoons!
- PS4 Pro owners will be able to play Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice at 60fps.
- Dragon Quest XI is coming West!
- In one of the weirdest updates this year, Ocelot Revolver is now playable in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
- Some games might have leaked as it looks like new Persona spin-offs are being made, and a Street Fighter Anniversary collection is in the works.
- The EA Sports UFC 2 prediction of UFC 214 was eerily accurate.
- We got financial reports for Electronic Arts, Capcom, and Konami.

- Mack checked out the Controller Modz Custom PS4 controller.
Games:
- Chandler kicked Monday off with the highest rated game of the week, as he found Supergiant Games’ Pyre to be fantastic.
- New freelancer Ken Barnes wrote his first two reviews for the site. He found Aven Colony to be a decent, if underwhelming, futuristic city-builder, and didn’t have much fun with the twin-stick shooter Circuit Breakers.
- Meanwhile, I had a fun time learning how to play Tiny Trax, the VR-exclusive slot-car racer from FuturLab, and was really impressed by Thunder Lotus Games’ Sundered, a hand-drawn Metroidvania.
- Jowi Girard-Meli returned to the site after a few months away (he even found time to get married!) with reviews of Zen Studios’ Infinite Minigolf and the visual novel Collar x Malice.
- Finally, Chandler continued to play way too many PlayStation VR games. He was disappointed by Theseus, but found Smashbox Arena to be a pleasant surprise.
Previews:
- I ended up checking out the betas for Happy Dungeons and Pro Evolution Soccer 2018. Neither left me thrilled, but for PES it was mostly due to getting into poor matches rather than the gameplay not being fun.
- After playing Fortnite for the entire weekend, I posted my impressions of Epic’s latest game.
- Paulmichael got to play Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus again. Lucky guy.
Features:
- In this week’s Now Loading, the staff gave their thoughts on game betas and if they actually help sales.
- Chandler and myself squared off over our differing opinions on the Destiny 2 beta.
- Mack ran down the top five features he wants to see added in PS4 5.0. This is no longer a video-exclusive feature, and now features a written version alongside it.
- Some really solid PlayStation Store sales are going on, so I highlighted 10 games worth picking up if you’ve got money burning a hole in your wallet.
- The staff talked about how they got into writing about video games.
- Since the August PS+ games were announced, I gave the 411 on the six titles you’ll own next month.
- For my #VitaFam, I highlighted some great role-playing games that are worth checking out on Sony’s neglected handheld.
- Our new Editor-in-Chief Cameron Teague wrote about the site’s new direction going forward.
- Michael Briers explained that video game locations can be more memorable than the characters and stories within them.
