On Twitter today, the PlayStation Europe account teased that they’re “getting geared up for the reveal of something new,” then offered up a short gif that puts the spotlight on something covered with a red sheet.
The PlayStation UK Twitter account also put up the same teaser:

Since the main PlayStation Twitter account hasn’t posted anything about this “something new,” it’s likely the announcement will happen in Europe, possibly during gamescom this week. However, Sony doesn’t have a press conference planned for the event, as they’ve instead scheduled their European media event for Paris Games Week in late October.
PlayStation Europe also revealed today, via the PlayStation Blog, that the Battlefield 1 Revolution Edition is coming out today (immediately following the EA live show, most likely), The King of Fighters XIV: Special Anniversary Edition is out on Wednesday, and a demo for Danganronpa V3 arrives on Friday.
