Sonic Forces Is Out on November 9 in Japan, Tag Team Gameplay Revealed

Sonic Forces is releasing on November 9 in Japan, SEGA has announced. In a new press release from SEGA of America today though, they said the Western release window is still “this Holiday.”

While we wait for an official Western release date, SEGA has brought out a new video offering a first look at Tag Team gameplay on PlayStation 4:

In Tag stages, Modern Sonic and the custom Hero Character team up to utilize Sonic’s boost abilities and homing attack along with the Hero Character’s Wispon abilities and grappling hook action to defeat the enemies. The video also reveals a new Wispon, the Cube Wispon, which allows the Hero Character to freeze enemies in block-like prisons and ultimately pulverize them into oblivion.

In an interview with Famitsu, Producer Shun Nakamura was asked if you can change the appearance of the custom Hero Character mid-stage. He replied:

The Avatar will stay the same from the beginning until the end. Because the point is that the character you create will depict ‘yourself’, and you will progress the story together with Sonic from the beginning until the end. We also had some places we want to change gameplay-wise, but for the time being, the form of the adventure is that the character you create will always stay with Sonic from the beginning until the end.

There’s also a new music track from Sonic Forces featuring Metal Sonic, who was created by Dr. Eggman to take down Sonic:

Sonic Forces will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in the West.
