Final Fantasy XV Update 1.15 Out Now, Includes Bestiary and Chapter Select

The latest Final Fantasy XV update is now available. The 4GB update brings with it a bunch of new options including a bestiary, chapter select, and the Assassin’s Creed crossover event. The event is time sensitive as players only have until January 31, 2018 to experience it. Players can access the bestiary in the Archives section of the main menu, and the chapter select can be found after completing the game’s story.

Check out the patch notes below:

Version 1.15

  • Various bug fixes

Version 1.14

  • Implementation of a chapter select (available after completion of the main game)
  • Addition of a bestiary (accessible from the Archives in the Main Menu)
  • Master Assassin’s Robes for players with a Dream Egg (unlocks upon loading a save)
  • Opening of the Assassin’s Festival (until January 31, 2018)
  • Announcement of winning snapshots from third photo contest (viewable at Mother of Pearl in Galdin Quay)
  • Various bug fixes

Additionally, here’s what we know about the Assassin’s Festival event:

The town of Lestallum will transform itself for the event with signs and banners signaling the arrival of the festival, and new activities will be available for players to participate in. It doesn’t end there. The Assassin’s Festival will have some additional themed items and features, including another outfit from Assassin’s Creed, along with abilities that enable Noctis to explore more like an Assassin and even use some of the Assassins’ more well-known abilities.

The best parts of Final Fantasy XV are not unfolding the epic story, completing side quests, or your first summon (although that is pretty damn cool), but the bonding of these four friends as they try to survive being hunted by the empire. I often preferred watching Ignis drive the team instead of fast traveling because of the interactions between the friends. It’s a blast checking out the photos Prompto took during the day around the campfire. It’s heartwarming listening to the team tease one another, especially when Noctis takes on yet another fetch quest. You can’t help but smile when Noctis celebrates with a teammate after executing a linked attack. FFXV may be a grand epic about saving the world from evil, but at its heart, it’s about the incredible bonds of friendship, true friendship. This isn’t some party that came together unexpectedly because the world is coming to an end; these four have been friends since they were kids. It doesn’t matter that Noctis’ friends are his guard now, because you know they would be protecting him all the same if they weren’t guards or if he wasn’t the prince. Final Fantasy games of the past have had numerous touching moments, but none have been quite like this.
