Destiny 2 Intro Sequence Recognizes Your Guardian’s Accomplishments

When I played Destiny 2 for my early review, I was playing as a new Guardian and missed many of the bonuses Bungie has put into the game for longtime fans. Now that I’m able to log on to my home account, I got to see a customized and beautifully artistic Destiny 2 intro sequence that went through many of my Guardian’s accomplishments.

Mostly made up of story completions and finishing each raid, Bungie is doubling down on the fact that the people you play with are important to your Destiny experience. In the lower right corner of the screen is listed the date and the members of the fireteam that I first accomplished that task with. Memories can flooding back of the last three years as I read names of people that have become some of my best friends, all because of Destiny. It’s an awesome memorial to our Guardians’ legacies, and a special touch from Bungie as we launch into Destiny 2.

My review-in-progress for Destiny 2 is now live, touting Destiny as “better than it’s ever been.”

A sequel should be many things. It should be familiar. It should be a step forward. It should cultivate the things that worked. It should improve what didn’t. Finding that balance is difficult without either copying too much of what came before or no longer staying true to the original. As old Guardians and new alike take this step into a world without light, Destiny 2 proves that Bungie has taken great care with this balance. There’s a familiar game here, and yet there’s a game all its own. It’s thrilling to start at the bottom again and need to work my way up after three years of feeling powerful.

Bungie also released some of the Destiny 2 concept art which I would highly recommend looking at if you have a couple extra minutes. Some of it is quite a stunning look at the worlds and characters of Destiny 2. What does your Guardian’s intro video show? Did you complete everything from the first game before moving on to Destiny 2?
