The latest Weekly Famitsu magazine has posted a preview scan of their upcoming article on Koei Tecmo’s upcoming PS4 game Dynasty Warriors 9, at Famitsu.com. The magazine itself will be officially published on the midnight of Thursday, September 7, in Japan. Another new character is introduced in this batch, which is Xu Sheng from the Wu Kingdom. He is going to be voiced by Tarusuke Shingaki in Japanese, and his main weapon will be Double Flails.
In this preview scan, we can also see new designs of two returning Jin characters: the husband-and-wife couple of Sima Zhao and Wang Yuanji. Although Sima Zhao retains his Strike Broadsword design from Dynasty Warriors 8, Famitsu notes that his weapon type is being generalized to normal Broadsword. Meanwhile, Wang Yuanji is still keeping Throwing Daggers as her main weapon.
Ryokutya also provides some early details from this Famitsu batch, which mention that more returning characters will be introduced in the magazine:
- Zhang Bao (from Shu, Zhang Fei’s son) – Weapon: Double Flails
- Xingcai (from Shu, Zhang Bao’s younger sister) – Weapon: Sword and Shield
- Cao Pi (from Wei, Cao Cao’s son) – Weapon: Double-Edged Sword
- Zhenji (from Wei, Cao Pi’s wife) – Weapon: Whip
Famitsu will also explain further on the action systems in Dynasty Warriors 9, such as the Trigger and Flow attacks in the new State Combo system, and also Interactive Actions that include fishing in the game’s open world.
