D3 Publisher has revealed a new Earth Defense Force game titled Earth Defense Force 4.1: Wingdiver The Shooter, a vertical-scrolling shooter game, at the latest Weekly Famitsu magazine. As the title suggests, this will be a spinoff to Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair that will tell a new story in the same universe as the original game. The player will take control of Pale Team, the elite Wingdiver squadron, as they destroy various kinds of enemies with gunfire.
More details about the spinoff have also been provided by Ryokutya. Wingdiver The Shooter will have over 60 kinds of weapons that can be selected, which also include close-ranged melee weapons. The game will have fully voiced transmissions, and more than 100 enemies can be made visible on the screen at once. And just like The Shadow of New Despair as well as other original Earth Defense Force games, Wingdiver The Shooter is going to aptly present the unpleasant sense of seeing a large flock of alien insects.
D3 Publisher’s Earth Defense Force 4.1: Wingdiver The Shooter is announced to be coming to PlayStation 4, and it will be released digitally in this Fall in Japan at the price of 2,980 yen (tax included).
