New Autumn Rocket League Update Coming Later This Month

Psyonix has announced that a brand new Rocket League update is coming later this month on September 28, and will bring with it a new arena, the start of competitive season 6, and a bunch of new customization options.

According to the developer, the game will debut a brand new Events system, which will introduce limited-time events that allow players to earn additional customizable options for their cars. Using a new item called the Decryptor, players will be able to unlock any unopened crate in their inventory without having to purchase a key. Psyonix promises to provide more details as the update draws closer.

If you want more Rocket League, make sure to check out our interview with Josh Watson from Psyonix, where he discusses the Rocket League community and the Eports scene around it:

PlayStation LifeStyle: How would you describe this event to someone who has never seen it before?

Josh Watson, Esports Operation Manager at Psyonix: This event is called the Universal Open Rocket League. It is a partnership between NBC Sports Network, and FACEIT with Psyonix. But the basic idea here is that it’s the first-ever regional to national, international competition for Rocket League. This is the first time that NBC and FACEIT have done this property together. The basic idea is that, you start in these regional competitions, these qualifiers that culminate to this national or international events here, the finals, where we’re at in Santa Ana.

The Rocket League update launches September 28.
