Update: The Vita version of Danganronpa V3 has the same update. Thank you to CJ for confirming this for us.
Original: Before you can jump into the killing game today, you’ll be prompted to download the Danganronpa V3 day one patch on PS4. This update will take Danganronpa V3 to version 1.01. Coming in at about 900 MB, update 1.01 will fix a bug that stopped progression and has various text fixes–most likely for typos, misspellings, and grammar. In a 20 to 30 hour game that’s mostly reading, there are bound to be some mistakes along the way. Here are the full Danganronpa V3 update 1.01 patch notes.
Version 1.01
-Fixes an error that halts game progression.
-Fixes various text issues.
While updating to 1.01 isn’t required to play the game, it’s recommended to do so in order to avoid the slim chance of hitting that progression halting error that may set you back hours. We aren’t able to confirm an update to the Vita version at this time, but chances are high that a similar day one patch was released that fixed the same things.
If you want to know more about Danganronpa V3, check out our spoiler-free review. As a fan of the past two games, I was surprised that the series could still bring mystery and intrigue to a third entry.
If you delight in the sense of drama and anticipation that arises from impossible situations, if you are engaged by a twisting mystery that is never quite what you expect, then the Danganronpa series is for you. I can’t in good faith recommend that you play Danganronpa V3 before the other two, just like I would never tell you to enjoy Return of the King before partaking of Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers. As the third part of an incredible trilogy of games, Danganronpa V3 deserves your attention in its rightful place after the other two. Make no mistake though, it’s a title that’s well worth arriving at when you get there, a vibrantly dark mystery that sinks its teddy bear claws in and won’t let go.
If you’re okay with spoilers, feel free to jump into our Danganronpa V3 class trial guide that will take you through every question and minigame in each of the six class trials, as well as directing you where to place the mysterious items you get in the game. You should also be aware that NISA has updated the streaming restrictions for V3, easing the restrictions on players streaming past chapter one.
