11 Guest Fighting Game Characters We Want

Guest fighting game characters aren’t anything new, but they’ve definitely been stealing the headlines as of late. First Injustice 2 made waves by announcing that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (yes, all four of them) would be making their way to NetherRealm Studios’ fighting game. Not to be outdone, Tekken 7 then fired back by announcing that Noctis from Final Fantasy XV was coming to their title as DLC.

This naturally got me to think about what other characters would be a great fit as a fighting game guest character. We’ve seen everything from Yoda to The Legend of Zelda‘s Link in the past, so any genre can potentially work. I wound up coming up with a list of 11 fighting game guest characters that I’d love to see in a fighting game.

Few expected NieR: Automata to become the breakthrough hit that it did, but the android soldier became one of 2017's most iconic characters. She'd be great fit for a 2D fighter, and has a varied arsenal to make a move-set from.
Kiryu

The star of the Yakuza series is a natural fit for a 3D fighting game like Tekken. He's already got a diverse brawling arsenal, and a strong character design that would fit right in alongside characters like Paul Phoenix and Marshall Law.
The Boss

Metal Gear Solid 3 introduced a ton of great characters, but The Boss is who I'd love to see in a fighting game. Her unique mastery of close quarters combat makes her a natural fit in any game, and she also has a mastery of weapons to fall back upon if she runs into any issues up close.
William Adams

While Nioh had some issues, the pros far outweighed the negatives. One of the highlights was the protagonist, William, who could master a variety of different weapons. He'd be a great addition to a game like Soulcalibur.
Aloy

Horizon Zero Dawn won over the hearts of many players, and Aloy was a large part of it. The character resonated with many fans, and has a diverse set of unique weaponry that'd make for an interesting move-set.
The Hunter

Bloodborne is all about weapons, and that makes The Hunter an easy choice. One perk is due to the addition of guns, he doesn't just have to rely on melee attacks.
Mae Borowski

Night in the Woods isn't the first game someone would think of when looking for a fighting game character, but Mae Borowski knows how to wield a baseball bat. Let her vent some of her teenage angst out on others.
The Rock

Dwayne Johnson is too good to only be in titles like WWE 2K18. He deserves better, so put Hollywood's biggest action star in an actual fighting game.
Noire

The Hyperdimension Neptunia series has a lot of great characters, but Noire has a special place as best girl (she's also the representation of PlayStation). With her transformation ability, she'd make a formidable fighter.
Knack

The star of Knack has a bunch of unique abilities, such as shifting size, which could make for some really neat systems in a fighting game. Imagine if he grew smaller by taking damage, yet could grow from dishing out combos.
Lara Croft

The star of Tomb Raider has been a gaming icon for decades, and knows how to use a bow, her fists, and plenty of guns. Ms. Croft can definitely dish it out against anyone.
