More Details on The Caligula Effect: Overdose Revealed

A remake of the PlayStation Vita title The Caligula Effect, titled The Caligula Effect: Overdose is in development for PlayStation 4, and the latest issue of the Weekly Famitsu has more about what’s new for the remake. There appears to be a lot of gameplay tweaks in the remake, as well as a completely reworked UI. The Caligula Effect: Overdose May 17 in Japan.

Gematsu translated the important parts of the article involving what is new for Overdose. Here’s a few of them:

  • We tossed the user interface of the previous game entirely, and are remaking it with white and gold as our base colors.
  • We’re not just limited to the user interface, we’re revising everything that we’re concerned about.
  • Since it was my first title that dealt with modern pathology, I wasn’t sure how far I to go, so I held back, but since a lot of people embraced it, I will try to go further this time.
  • Since we’re adding new characters, we’re reorganizing the story from the beginning. Since Overdose doesn’t simply add to the scenario of the previous game, it’s being rewritten from the beginning.

The original Caligula Effect was largely a success for FuRyu, which is why they decided to remake the Vita title for PlayStation 4 over making a sequel. Overdose‘s development is currently about 70% complete.

The Caligula Effect: Overdose releases in Japan on May 17, 2018 on PlayStation 4. There’s not currently a localization announcement for this title.
