DayZ Leaving Early Access and Coming to Consoles in 2018

Bohemia Interactive has announced that its open world survival game, DayZ, will leave early access and head to consoles next year. In a recent status report on its website, the developer detailed the game’s PC beta and future plans, noting that it aims to keep DayZ running for as long as possible.

DayZ is a game AND a platform, and we intend on keeping DayZ alive for as long as it’s viable,” said the studio.

Bohemia’s status report confused some PlayStation 4 players, however. We’ve been told in the past that the game is in development for both PS4 and Xbox One. However, the aforementioned status report specifically mentions the Xbox version only.

“As soon as the PC beta is headed in a way we like, we’re still committed to bringing DayZ to Xbox, where we have a large community of gamers patiently (very patiently!) waiting for a truly hardcore online survival game,” the blog post reads.

When fans took to Twitter to question the blog’s wording, Bohemia clarified that DayZ is still coming to PS4 but since Xbox has a Game Preview program, it’ll release sooner for Microsoft’s console.

We’ll update our readers when we have more info on the PS4 version.
