Street Fighter V Arcade Mode Detailed, Will Be Shown at PSX

Capcom has finally detailed the upcoming Street Fighter V arcade mode that will debut in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition when it releases on January 16, 2018. The mode will let players select from six different paths that represent different games from the series. The paths include Street Fighter, Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter III, Street Fighter IV, and Street Fighter V.

Here’s how Capcom explains the different paths:

Each path stays true to the characters present in the respective series. For example, you can only select Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Akuma, Laura, Urien, Alex, Kolin, and Ibuki in Street Fighter III’s Arcade path – Sean is represented through Laura while Kolin appears briefly in Gill’s intro.

You’ll find that after every battle, you have a choice on who to fight next, opening up the possibilities of a higher score if you’re confident in defeating the more difficult match ahead of you. Each month, Arcade Mode points are added up, and the player with the highest score will gain a unique Title!

Capcom also confirmed that bonus stages will also appear in the arcade mode. In it, players will have to break 20 barrels that are launched on-screen. There’ll also be over 200 different arcade endings to be unlocked. The unlock condition for each can be seen in the gallery mode, and they range “from simply completing a path to getting a “Perfect” on the bonus stage.”

Finally, Capcom also announced that the Street Fighter V arcade mode will make its playable debut at the PlayStation Experience 2017. The event takes place next weekend, and the build will be “created specifically for this event and will not provide a complete experience.”

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is set to release for the PlayStation 4 on January 16.
