In a surprising bit of news today, the open world survival horror game Dying Light is getting it own standalone expansion in 2018, and it seems to be centered all around PvP multiplayer. The mode, called Bad Blood, was brought about by player demand and due to “the recent popularity of the battle royale genre” amongst fans.
When it comes to the game mode, Bad Blood aims to merge PvE elements into the gameplay, and the rules of the mode reveal why: you and five other players are dropped into a zombie-infested map. The goal of the game is to evacuate before night falls, but in order to get a seat on the extraction chopper, players must harvest blood from the zombies.
Players must scavenge for weapons and can also form on-the-fly alliances with other players to try and take down stronger zombies. However, as is the case with most PvP games, alliances can be short lived, as players must pay for their seats on the evacuation chopper separately. Players can sign up to be one of the beta testers on the PC by signing in with their Techland account on the Dying Light site.
For a bit more information on the upcoming expansion, check out below:
- RAPID LOOTINGYou and five other players are dropped into a hostile, zombie-infested area. Each of you has the same goal: to evacuate before the night falls. Use your parkour skills to swiftly traverse the city, scavenging for weapons that will give you an edge over your opponents. But remember, the clock is ticking.
- ALLIES & TRAITORSTo pay for a seat on the extraction chopper, you need to harvest blood samples from the infected. Form dynamic alliances with other players to get tactical against formidable zombie bosses – and then turn on your allies to steal their samples. In a cruel set-up where everyone fights for the survival of the few, betrayal is not a question of “if”, but “when”.
- EVACUATIONThe more samples the players harvest collectively, the more seats are unlocked. But everyone pays for their seat individually, which means the alliances are short-lived and can easily end with a stab in the back. Make sure you have enough evacuation points once the chopper arrives, and don’t get killed as you race to the extraction zone.
Dying Light: Bad Blood is set to launch sometime in 2018.
