With Curse of Osiris’ new patrol space on Mercury comes a new public event, the biggest one in Destiny 2 so far. As with every other public event in Destiny 2, this one also has a heroic trigger that will change the encounter and potentially offer better rewards.
Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris Mercury Heroic Public Event
There is only one public event that spawns on Mercury, so you don’t have to worry about figuring out which one is the new one. This public event will take players across the entire patrol map, and open up two new islands on either side of the area that are only accessible during the public event. These islands are the key to activating the heroic version.
Vex Crossroads
-Once you’ve progressed the public event to the point where you go to the first of the two islands (it doesn’t matter which side), jump up on the launch pad that sends you over there. After killing the gatekeeper and slamming the charge, don’t head back to the main Mercury area just yet. Head to the back of the island, opposite the side you flew in from. After the arc charge is slammed, there will be a floating diamond Vex construct that needs to be shot. It will be floating out behind the island.
Destroy the diamond construct to make a couple of floating platforms appear. Jump to them and look for two more diamond Vex constructs. Destroy these and jump to the next platform and look for the final three Vex diamond constructs. The final platform will let you reach the top area of the island where there is a Vex plate. Stand in the Vex plate for a couple of seconds until the Heroic public event is activated.
You must do this process quickly or the platforms will despawn. You also need to get plate active before the final fight against the gate lord begins. The heroic version of the public event creates a shield around the gate lord at different intervals, which require more gatekeepers to be killed and arc charges to be slammed on the floating platform in the center of the arena. Completing this will offer improved chances at better rewards.
