Red Dead Redemption 2 is still a ways away, but that hasn’t stopped Rockstar from seemingly teasing fans for its released. Today, Rockstar released a brand new crossover mission into Grand Theft Auto Online, and completing it will reward players with a gun from the upcoming Western shooter.
GTA Online players should receive an in-game email when they start up their game that provides them with a clue on how to pursue a “lost relic from the frontier.” This will trigger a sort of scavenger hunt in the game that has players trekking across San Andreas to take pictures of various landmarks. Once the hunt is complete, they’ll be rewarded with a new gun for use in GTA Online: a brand new, shiny, Double-Action Revolver.
Of course, players will note that the revolver plays a huge role in Red Dead Redemption, as it’s really the main gun of choice by everyone in the Wild West. Players in GTA Online who have the gun will be able to unlock it for use in Red Dead Redemption 2 as well, as once they get the gun, a Headshot Challenge will be available during Freemode. Should players complete it successfully, they’ll get $250,000 in the game mode and unlock the Double-Action Revolver for use in the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2.
