First Free Destiny Webcomic, Fall of Osiris, is Now Available

One of the best parts of Destiny is the deep lore, but sometimes that doesn’t come across while Guardians are looting and shooting their way across planets, fending off the tides of darkness. The first game had the Grimoire, a collection of digital cards that held information about people, places, and events in Destiny. Destiny 2 removed the Grimoire, but added more lore into the game itself in the form of lore tabs on gear. Now Bungie is re-exploring the lore outside of the game with a webcomic series. The first issue, titled Fall of Osiris, is available today.

This issue features the origins of Osiris and Ikora Rey, two characters that were a central focus in the Curse of Osiris expansion that released last week. It’s revealed how Osiris fell from grace and went from being a Vanguard Commander to banished. “Osiris was once the champion of the Last City. Vanguard Commander. Seeker of secrets and discoverer of wonders. And then everything changed. How did Osiris go from hero to traitor?”

You can read the free Fall of Osiris Destiny webcomic over on Bungie’s site.

Destiny 2 Narrative Director Margaret Stohl, who is currently writing Marvel’s The Mighty Captain Marvel, says that the Destiny webcomic is a collaboration of some great writers and artists in the industry. “Destiny’s first-ever original comic short is written by Eisner-winning, New York Times bestselling writer Ryan North (Dinosaur Comics, Marvel’s The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl) in collaboration with our own super talented Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris narrative lead Christine Thompson, with interior art by Destiny community fan favorite Zé Carlos. Here’s a peek at the cover, by Marcio Takara (All-New Wolverine). The webcomic is available for free and is cited as a “series,” so it’s likely we can expect more to come.
