Subnautica PS4 Diving Into Digital and Retail Stores This Year

Subnautica – Announce Trailer | PS4

Unknown Worlds Entertainment’s Subnauatic has been out for nearly four years now, starting out as an early access title for PC in December 2014 before diving onto the Mac in June 2015 and the Xbox One in May 2016. Now developer Unknown Worlds has partnered with Panic Button (responsible for ports like Doom, Rocket League, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus for the Nintendo Switch, Primal Carnage: Extinction for the PlayStation 4, Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition for the PlayStation Vita, and more) to announce that the open-world, survival adventure game will be submerging onto the PlayStation 4 sometime this year. Adam Creighton, studio general manager and director of development at Panic Button, took the announcement to the PlayStation blog with an accompanying trailer, which you can watch above.

“PlayStation gamers – I am excited to tell you that Panic Button is developing the PS4 version of Subnautica, and Unknown Worlds is launching the game this holiday season! Also, you can pre-order the physical version of the game (thanks to Gearbox Publishing) starting today,” Creighton wrote in the blog post. “Unknown Worlds made a gorgeous, immersive game a bunch of us at Panic Button have been fans of since it was announced, and we have been hoping to bring it to PlayStation gamers for a while. Everything recently lined up nicely, and we are looking forward to bringing Subnautica to PS4 by the end of the year.”

With Subnautica getting an official PlayStation 4 port, Creighton made sure to hint that PlayStation players may get some extra, exclusive goodies in their purchase of the game. “Subnautica is a special game, and we’re looking to do some special things for PlayStation gamers (more on that later).” There’s no confirmation on whether PlayStation players will see some sort of exclusive content in the PlayStation 4 version of Subnautica, but Adam Creighton seemed to heavily suggest that something special would be coming to PlayStation 4 owners.

Subnautica will be available for PlayStation 4 sometime later this year.
