battlefield v controversy

DICE Executive Producer: ‘It’s a Shame’ Women Weren’t in Battlefield 1

One of the biggest Battlefield V talking points hasn’t been the decision to include battle royale mode or its lack of paid DLC. Surprisingly, most of the discussion surrounding the World War II-set shooter has to do with DICE’s decision to include female characters. DICE has already stood by its choice, but now one of the members of the team has doubled down by saying he wished women were included in Battlefield 1!

In an interview with GamesRadar+, Battlefield V Executive Producer Aleksander Grondal said:

I mean, if we were getting on the bandwagon, I created Battlefield 1, and we could’ve ‘jumped on the bandwagon’ that time around. I think it’s a shame we didn’t [add women], because that perhaps would’ve been better for us. I don’t think it’s a bandwagon thing, I think it’s about gamers wanting to express themselves in different ways. If you take a look at Battlefield historically, it’s been about expressing yourself through gameplay, solving problems the way you want to, and these characters fall perfectly in line with that thinking.

Grondal also noted that anytime players disagreed with a decision made by the development team, “it’s not great.” When it comes to Battlefield V, he said DICE just wanted to “create a game that’s the best game for all our players. ”

Battlefield V will be releasedAn on October 19, 2018, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The open beta will begin on September 4, 2018.
