Dragon Quest Builders 2 was announced in August 2017, and we haven’t heard much since. Sure, Square Enix has likely been focusing on more immediate matters like Dragon Quest XI, but still. A bone or two would be nice, right? Well, in Japan, things are about to get rolling with a big reveal event for the release date.
Square Enix has announced a livestream-slash-presentation for Dragon Quest Builders 2, the star of which will be the game’s official release date. The stream will be held on August 29, 2018, at 20:00 JST, which is 7:00 am ET. Along with the release date, Square Enix will be tell us more about the game.
The event will comprise a number of guests. One notable person is Dragon Quest‘s creator, Yuji Horii. Dragon Quest Builders 2 Producer Noriyoshi Fujimoto, Producer Takuma Shiraishi, and Director Kazuya Niinou will be present, as well as V-Jump‘s Saito-V and actress Ranze Fukushima.
Dragon Quest Builders as a series is ostensibly inspired by the likes of Minecraft, however it’s much more story and goal-oriented. The first game was a surprise hit with critics on the PlayStation 4 and the Vita, and was eventually ported to the Nintendo Switch.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 was announced last summer for the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. So far, we know it will have multiplayer, a bonus for importing save data, and more.
