Devil May Cry 5 Takes Place After Devil May Cry 2

Devil May Cry 5 has been on the minds of many since being confirmed at E3 2018. Now, following the gameplay trailer and release date announcement at gamescom 2018, even more Devil May Cry news has arrived. It recently came up in a French interview that the events of Devil May Cry 5 will take place after Devil May Cry 2. A fan took to Twitter, asking Capcom producer Matt Walker to confirm. Walker replied by tweeting back, “We have indeed confirmed this in interviews.”

Devil May Cry 2 has been sort of swept under the rug. It received mixed reviews and earned a Metacritic score of 68. The idea that Devil May Cry 5 may strengthen the timeline could excite fans. It could be a crucial reaction, as fans are a big reason this new entry exists at all.

The big question that seems to be on the community’s mind, following this announcement, is whether or not Lucia will make an appearance in Devil May Cry 5. We’ve seen Nero in action and have been told we’ll end up loving Nico, but are still in the dark regarding the other playable character.
