Tomorrow players will get their hands on the next chapter for themselves, but if you just can’t wait to dive in, we’ve got full gameplay for the Destiny 2 Forsaken opening mission right here. The mission features a massive prison break from the Prison of Elders. Your Guardian enters the Prison to help Cayde-6 and Petra Venj put a stop to the rioting hordes, before a much more sinister plot is unveiled. We all know where this mission is headed, and that Cayde doesn’t quite make it out alive, but you can witness his final moments as our Guardians fight alongside the rogueish Vanguard Hunter.
The loose-lipped Cayde is filled with quips up until the very end, the sheer dichotomy between his humor and the impending sadness weighing heavy. While there are additional cutscenes before, during, and after this mission to grant additional context, you’ll have to wait until Forsaken actually launches to see those for yourself. Watch the full gameplay for the Destiny 2 Forsaken opening mission below.
This opening sets the stage for the tone that the rest of the expansion takes. While I can’t yet talk about the entirety of Forsaken or my impressions on it, I can say that the first mission is a stellar example of what Bungie can do. It’s packed with action, big set pieces, and great story, including the return of a character we haven’t seen for quite some time. It’s filled with emotion, and witnessing Cayde’s death firsthand is a moment that Guardians won’t soon forget. In fact, it’s exactly what will fuel your quest for vengeance in a lawless corner of the galaxy.
If you haven’t played Destiny 2 for a bit but are curious about Forsaken, you’re in luck!
