ps4 software update

PS4 Firmware Update 6.00 Out Now

The newest system update for the PlayStation 4 is now live. After a beta period back in August 2018, all players can now update their systems to firmware 6.00. Curiously, for a full number update, there are no major system overhauls, but then again, we already learned that when beta invites were being sent out.

To that end, the PS4 firmware 6.00 patch notes are (somewhat surprisingly) brief and vague:

  • This system software update improves system performance.

That is not really much to go on, but you should rest easy knowing your console will run that much smoother.

The last update the PlayStation 4 received was version 5.55 in May 2018. It also improved the system’s performance. Back in March 2018, the 5.00 update brought a host of major changes and additions to the system, including Play Time Management and updates to the quick menu.

Sadly, the long-fabled ability to change our PSN names did not come with this update, as some had hoped. One can dream, at least. At least the PlayStation Store’s search bar functionality was recently updated, making it easier to find games.

Are you excited about this PlayStation 4 firmware update? Or do you wish it was a little more extensive? Let us know!
