two new final fantasy games

It’s a Final Fantasy Party, and Every Buddy is Invited

Yes that’s an obnoxious headline, but I’m a little excited. Hot of the heels of a giant Nintendo Direct, Square Enix has launched a new branding of sorts, with a new page on its website titled, “Discover the Legacy of Final Fantasy. What this essentially is, is a bunch of multiplatform Final Fantasy goodness, the majority of it being titles that were already on PlayStation platforms making their way to the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. However, two new games were also announced, and they’re both debuting in part on the PlayStation 4

The first game is Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy, and it’s a souped-up version of 2007 Wii title Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon. It’s slated to come to the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch this winter. This version will allow you to “befriend all the monsters,” as well as play co-op with a buddy. Just one buddy at a time, though. Not every buddy.

The second game is World of Final Fantasy Maxima. This one is an updated version of the original game, and has a full release date of November 6, 2018 for the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch, and the PC. This new version includes more Champions (classic Final Fantasy characters) and Mirages (monsters), and a new feature called Avatar Change that allows you to actually play as some of those Champions, rather than just summon them.
