PUBG PS4 Release Date

Ratings Board Posting Suggests PUBG Is Coming to the PS4

The Korean Gaming Board’s recent rating of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for the PlayStation 4 suggests that this battle royale game is finally tossing its Xbox One console exclusivity into the wind and will be making an appearance on the Sony side of things shortly.

While this has yet to be officially confirmed, we’ve seen this coming for some time. Rumors about this release have been happening as early as 2017, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds developer and CEO of PUBG Corporation, Chang Han Kim, stated that “if [given] the opportunity, the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform.”

Still, Sony’s demand for a high quality launch presents a challenge. Unlike Steam and Microsoft, Sony doesn’t have early access/pre-release methods, so the game would need to be running smoothly at launch.

If true, this release is an exciting one for fans, but it’s coming at a bit of an awkward time. Fortnite has clearly usurped PUBG, and there’s already another free-to-play battle royale option on the PS4. Plus, you’ll be able to get yet another battle royale experience when Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches on October 12, 2018. The option to purchase PUBG, assuming it has a price tag similar to its PC and Xbox One release, is nice to have but what does the demand look like in today’s landscape?

Comment below and let us know if you’d purchase PUBG for the PlayStation 4.
