FIFA 19 Sales

UK Sales Chart: FIFA 19 Physical Sales Are Down 25% in the UK

In comparison to FIFA 18, physical launch sales for FIFA 19 are down by 25%. This doesn’t spell doom for the FIFA series, however. In fact, FIFA 19 has taken the number one spot on the UK charts, knocking Spider-Man down to the number two slot, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz.

All this tells us is that people are changing the way they play FIFA, with many gamers opting to download the game, rather than break the seal day one. While those who take the digital route miss the opportunity to eventually sell/trade their copy, they get a plethora of advantages. With EA’s Origin program, you could’ve gotten limited early access to FIFA 19. For futbol fanatics, those kind of incentives are enough to push them to the digital side.

As far as where people are playing:

The PS4 version of FIFA 19 accounted for 64% of sales, with Xbox One accounting for 35% and the Switch version the remaining 1%. Sales of the games on legacy platforms (Xbox 360, PS3) were negligible.

This blowout by Sony is impressive, but, as the author pointed out, it’s the UK’s most popular console, so the real achievement can be traced further back.

Below are the top ten games on the UK sales chart, for the week ending on September 29, 2018:

1. FIFA 19
2. Marvel’s Spider-Man
3. Shadow of the Tomb Raider
