Divinity: Original Sin 2 Developer Discusses Next Game

Larian Studios, the developing team behind Divinity: Original Sin 2, have already begun working on their next title, codenamed “Project Gustav,” named after the dog of founder and CEO, Swen Vincke. The project was teased within Gameumentary’s hour long documentary on the Divinity: Original Sin series, which covers the studio’s humble beginnings all the way to its pivotal stance amongst isometric RPGs. The game will apparently be another multiplayer, narratively driven game that implements new concepts and ideas, different from what was done in Divinity: Original Sin.

Probably the biggest stress that we have now is how can we make something that’s better than Original Sin 2. How do we make sure that we don’t lose what was good and how do we know that we innovate on the things that people would not want to do again because they did it once and it was cool but they won’t do it twice—which is typically a trap that sequels fall into. But it’s fun. This is why you do this, right? You make new things, you explore new avenues of gameplay.

Larian Studios’ Divinity: Original Sin 2 recently came to PS4 on August 31, 2018 , and has since received critical acclaim for its remarkable integration of multiplayer in a choice-heavy isometric RPG.
