Rumor: Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Will Be Completely Rebranded in Upcoming Update

It’s not a stretch to say Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite hasn’t exactly been a hit with fans. However, if a recent rumor is to be believed, Capcom and Marvel may be attempting to try and correct its course. A massive update is supposedly planned for the fighting game, one that will attempt to rebrand it.

According to Reddit poster (and frequent leaker) DasVergeben, both companies are figuring out a way to get back in fans’ good graces after the bumpy launch of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. That may involve rebranding it as Marvel vs. Capcom 4, the name most assumed the game would be called when it was first rumored. According to the leaker, this is update is still very early in development, and we will likely not hear official word on it until 2019.

As such, there isn’t any substantial information on what changes will come to the game itself. Does the loss of Infinite from the title mean the Infinity Stone mechanic will be dropped in favor of the more tradition 3v3 matches of Marvel vs. Capcom? The character roster was also a big point of contention for fans. The inclusion of X-Men and Fantastic Four characters would go a long way, but we shall see what, if anything, Marvel and Capcom have planned.

Of course, this rumor should all be taken with a grain of salt. While the original poster has leaked some correct information before, none of this has been confirmed. Recently, Cacpom made an effort to improve its other fighting game, Street Fighter V. However, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite hasn’t received an update since January 2018.

Would you be excited for a possible Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite rebrand? What would you like to see out of it? Let us know!
